London 2012 Olympics: Royal Entrance

London 2012’s Olympic Opening Ceremony had one royal entrance by the Queen and James Bond.

The royal entrance showed a video of James Bond (Daniel Craig) striding into Buckingham Palace sporting a smart dinner jacket and walking past corgis to pick up the Her Majesty. The Queen, sitting at her writing desk, simply said, “Good evening, Mr Bond“, before the team walked off through the palace. It’s nice to see that Queen Liz still has a sense of humour.

The two then boarded a helicopter that flew across London and hovered above the stadium as The Olympic Stadium erupted with applause and the Queen arrived in an extravagant fashion – seemingly parachuting out of the helicopter with James Bond.

Then the Queen, dressed in the same peach dress as the video featured her wearing, arrived in the stadium alongside the Duke of Edinburgh to take their seats.

Jolly fun!

Also featured during the Opening Ceremony was a performance that celebrated English literature and a sterling performance from Mr Bean and the London Symphony Orchestra.
