Friendship: The Long And Short of A Good Friend

(C) Pixiepot Designs

Time after time I have heard people say that if you want to succeed, you have to do things for your own good; if you want something done, do it yourself; if you want to be successful, forget everyone else and focus on what you want and where you’re going.

I honestly disagree.

These people have forgotten the unsung heroes that have stood behind every successful person, or there about. They have forgotten the friends and support that are often the only reason we see colour in this world that is otherwise monochrome.

These friends are people that support you every step of the way, regardless of whether or not they think what you are doing is wrong or right. They offer honest advice and opinions, make you smile when you need a laugh, and are always there to hold you up when you’re falling. They are a shoulder to cry on; a light to guide the way.

Every person you meet impacts you in some way or another. Despite how insignificant a person may be to you at that time, the effect they have on you and your life will be everlasting. Then there are the friends at matter: likewise, their fingerprints will never fade from the lives they’ve touched yet the marks they leave might be so grand or deep that they could never be forgotten – no matter how hard you try, with any amount of determination.

These friends know you better than you know yourself. They see through your lies and can read you like a book from one glance into your eyes. They will love you unconditionally and will never purposefully hurt you.

Even though you know you’re far from it, they embrace your flaws and still consider you perfect even after all they know about you. They are always here for you, some would even die for you. You can count on them day or night.

I can not define the friendship one might have with this sort of person in a single sentence, but I can tell you this: you know it’s friendship when you love your friend as much as they love you.

I ask of you never to forget of these people – these friends – that watch over you and I hope that in return for their efforts, you’d not only return the favour but show your appreciation for them.

I have one of these friends. I hope that you can find one too.

A really beautiful post ❤ Everyone leaves their own mark on you, may that be good or bad. And it's definitely friends who keep you going sometimes. I don't know where I'd be without my true friends; those who I also hold close to my heart. Through the good days and the bad days, I'm thankful that they haven't given up on me, but instead stood by my side. Your post has reestablished the gratitude that I have for those around me. 🙂

Also, you have a clear and confident voice that I very much love to read. Don't stop blogging ^_^

    • Really lovely quote. I’ll be sure to archive it for a later date when in need for inspiration.

Thank you! I’m so glad you liked it and I completely agree: without friendship, the world would be all the more lonely and I’m not sure how many people could cope with that.

      Thank you Sam! ❤
